2012.05.22 Piotr Serafin appointed as MFA Secretary of State On 22 May 2012, Poland’s Prime Minister appointed Mr. Piotr Serafin as Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for the coordination of the Prime Minister’s participation in European Council meetings. Minister Serafin will be responsible for European affairs, including negotiations on the post-2014 EU financial perspective

2012.05.17 Jan Tombiński and Adam Kułach nominated as Polish ambassadors within EU diplomatic corps Ambassador Jan Tombiński will become the head of the EU delegation to Kiev, while Director Adam Kułach will head the EU delegation to Riyadh. The decision to nominate the heads of EU delegations to these and 16 other countries in the 2012 round of nominations was announced today by the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

2012.05.10 Wroclaw and San Sebastián are the European Capitals of Culture for 2016 The Council adopted a decision officially designating Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain) and Wroclaw (Poland) as European Capitals of Culture for 2016.

2012.05.02 Eight years of Poland’s membership in the European Union 1 May 2012 marks the eighth anniversary of the Poland’s accession to the European Union. This occasion provides an opportunity to conduct an analysis and draw conclusions regarding economic and social effects of Poland’s membership in the EU.
The Standard Eurobarometer survey is carried out twice a year. Each survey consists of approximately 1000 face-to-face interviews per Member State.
In addition, the special irregularly repeated modules investigate topics such as agriculture, biotechnology, energy, environment, gender roles, family, youth, elderly, health related issues, immigration, poverty, regional identity, science and technology, working conditions, consumer behaviour, urban traffic etc. in a European perspective.
